The Confusion

by Florence Weinberger

I was never sure
I loved you, I mean
really loved you, so
while I waited for
a call back from whom
ever does those things
for an appointment
to see a podiatrist,
I picked up an old diary
I’ve been reading
every few days when
I get a minute or two
ripping out pages and
shredding and continue
where I left off, the early
80’s (can you believe
the 80’s are now being
called vintage?) and
there it was, in my own
handwriting, not only
did I love you, but I
loved you very much.
Makes me wonder why
I spent so much time
wondering.
