Welcome.
Announcement: Issue III is live! Please check it out!
Lyrical, contemplative, and contemporary works compel us. While poetry is our focus, we enjoy anything strange, surreal, and/or experimental (magical realism, speculative fiction, flash fiction, etc.). But we’re open to anything with heart.

Helping people share their stories.
As we accept a wide range, query us to see if your work might be a fit.
Who We Are
Cypress is affectionately named after Cypress Street in Philly. We welcome writers of Philadelphia and beyond.
What We Care About
We believe creativity brings more empathy and kindness to this world. We hope to spread that with our little magazine. Bring us your melancholy yet hopeful works that know loss and love and where to let the light in.
General Submissions
We accept general submissions of poetry, fiction, photography, and art. New and established authors are encouraged to submit.
Our Plans
While we are a digital magazine, we hope to expand to print and include contests in the near future. We are not paying contributors at this time since it’s free to submit and we’re volunteer-run, but we hope to in the future.
Editing Services
Whether you plan to submit or not, we offer a range of editing services for poets and writers.
Please Note
We will reject any content that proves hateful, discriminatory, or exclusionary. Hate has no home here.
Submissions are closed.
We accept submissions via Duotrope. When we reopen, you’ll be able to submit here:

Submission Guidelines:
We’re accepting fiction, poetry, nonfiction, photography, and art. AI-generated content is not accepted. Please note we’ll always accept poetry but will cycle through other genres in each issue. There’s a max of 5 pages total per submission. Send us unpublished work and only submit in one category per submission period.
For fiction, nonfiction, and poetry: Please upload a single .doc/.docx/.pdf file with your piece(s). For poetry, combine all pieces into one file. The name of the file should be your full name.
For art and photography: Upload all pieces as separate .jpg/.png files. The name of the files should contain your full name.
A brief cover letter is optional, but please include a brief bio (50 words or less) with your full name that we can include if your work is published.
We’ll get back to you in 3-4 months. Feel free to query us after 4 months if you haven’t heard back. In some cases, you might hear back from us sooner. Simultaneous submissions are permitted, but let us know asap if your work is accepted elsewhere.
Please review the home page of our site before sending an inquiry. Email us at editor@cypressreview.com if you have remaining questions or need assistance with Duotrope after reading these guidelines. We are no longer accepting email submissions, but you can submit here.
